Obituary for James "Jim" D. Woodruff

Jim Woodruff, 84 of Lemoyne, Ohio passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Otterbein Senior Living in Pemberville. He was born on December 30, 1934 to Henry and Ida (Dennis) Woodruff, in Lemoyne. He married Joanne Miller on August 25, 1956 in Luckey, Ohio. Together they raised 3 children and celebrated over 62 years of marriage. Jim worked at Libbey Owens Ford in Toledo and Rossford for over 40 years. He also worked part time at the Toledo Docks, worked with his father-in-law on the family farm and painted part-time with his “buddies” Joe and Curly. After retirement, he worked for the Jim Jacob’s family business. His memberships included being an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Luckey where he served as a chairman of the ushers, as well as the Luckey couples’ class where he made Apple Butter and Elephant Ears. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed going to garage sales, estate sales, auctions and car shows all over the country. His first love was his 1937 and 1941 original Chevrolet cars. Jim attended many Eastwood athletic and academic events for his children and grandchildren, as well as selling tickets with Joanne for many years. Over the years, Jim traveled to many places around the United States with his wife and family. The most memorable vacation spot was Treasure Island, Florida.

In addition to his wife Joanne, Jim is survived by his children: Sharon Woodruff-Dudley, Tom (Dianne) Woodruff and Randy Woodruff, grandchildren: Mallory (Brian) White and Paige Woodruff, great-grandson: Beckham James White and soon to be a second great-grandchild. Jim is also survived by his sister: Fannie McCoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, In-laws: Lester and Eunice Miller, brothers: Charles and Kenneth Woodruff and nephews: Matthew Miller and Michael McCoy.

Family and friends will be received 4- 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, Luckey, OH. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Zion United Methodist Church, 525 Krotzer Ave, Luckey, where there will be an additional time of visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Arnie Elton will be officiating. Interment will be in the Troy Township Cemetery. There will be a bereavement luncheon served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the cemetery committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to: Zion United Methodist Church or Troy Township Fire and EMS.
