Obituary for Margie Ann Ehmke

Margie Ann Ehmke, 94 years old of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Otterbein Perrysburg. She was born on December 20, 1924 in Woodville, OH, to Merlin and Ethel (Webb) Littler. Margie met Harvey H. Ehmke in Woodville and married him of December 27, 1943 in Fremont, OH. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before Harvey’s death in October 2010.

During those 66 years, they resided in Pemberville and Arizona. They owned and operated Ehmke Plumbing and Heating and Ehmke/Snyder Plumbing and Heating; was employed at the Bowling Green State University Book Store. Margie also was and avid tole painter and taught technique and brush stroke methods at her studio, “Margie’s Paintin’ Patch.” As a member of the Tole Mates of Northwest Ohio, Margie was one of many members dedicating one thousand hours in 1986 painting and restoring the vivid colors of the carousel critters at the Toledo Zoo. Both Harv and Marg enjoyed dancing, playing cards and socializing with their many friends in Arizona, Vista Villa in Port Clinton and Pemberville.

Margie was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women Priscilla Circle, Pemberville Legion Auxiliary Post #183, Alpha-Pi CCl and the Country Village Garden Club.

Margie is survived by her five children, Beverly (Douglas) Carpenter of Elkton, MN; Vicky Hamen of Fort Myers, FL; Michael (Marilyn) Ehmke of Columbia, SC; Pattie (David) Snyder of Pemberville, OH; Lynne (Mark) Beard of Perrysburg, OH; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Margie is preceded in death by her sister, Belva (Littler) Taylor and Ellen (Littler) Hoffman, and son-in-law Glenn Hamen.

Family and friends will be received 2-5 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville, where there will be additional visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Rev. Matthew Musteric will be officiating. There will be a bereavement meal served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Memorials may take the form of contributions to: Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. On-line condolences may be shared with the family at www.marshfuneralhomes.com.
