William “Bill” Steinmeyer, age 79, of Woodville, OH passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born May 24, 1939 in Toledo, OH to parents Ernest and Marie (Linke) Steinmeyer. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the 1960’s. Soon upon his discharge from the service he married Judy Reitz in Toledo on June 18, 1966. Bill and Judy have celebrated over 52 years of marriage together. Bill was a mechanic by trade and worked at Ohio Lime for 39 years before his retirement and then for a couple of years at Petro. However, it was his greatest joy having worked for 10 years as the Woodmore Elementary School Crossing Guard. It was during this time that he had the opportunity to work with his wife Judy and together they would be the surrogate parents and grandparents to the many children they looked after those years together.
Bill is survived by his wife, the love of his life Judy, numerous cousins and a host of faithful friends gained over the years. While he and Judy were never blessed with their own children, he will be remembered in the hearts of those many kids they looked after the years they served as the school crossing guards for Woodmore. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Friends will be received 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Woodville United Methodist Church, 201 West 1st Street, Woodville, OH.
