Obituary for William K. Martin

William K. Martin, age 59, of Gibsonburg, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, following a very courageous battle with brain cancer for the past 2 ½ years. He was born on July 28, 1960 in Lima, OH to Earl and E. Lenore (McGillvary) Martin. He graduated from Woodmore High School and attended Penta County Vocational School. He married Kathy Baden on August 2, 1986 in Hamler, OH and together they raised 2 sons and celebrated over 33 years marriage. Early in his career, Bill worked as a pressman for the Toledo Blade, drove semi and worked on AG equipment. Most recently he worked as an applicator for The Anderson’s for the last 5 years before he was diagnosed. He was a current member of the SAL, Bradner American Legion Post #338 and a former Blue Shirt member for the National Tractor Puller’s Association. He was also a past member of the Northwest Ohio Blacksmith Association (NOB). Bill was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed the outdoors, spending time camping at Sunny’s Campground, Wauseon. It was the time he spent with family and friends that gave him the greatest joy.

In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his sons: Kyle (Sarah Weitzel) Martin of Luckey, Michael Martin of Gibsonburg, 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, sister: Sue (Glenn) Mohre of Mount Gilead, brothers: David Martin of Mount Gilead and Steve (Anita) Martin of SC. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will be received at a Celebration of Life Ceremony 2-6 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Bradner Legion, Bradner Ohio. Friends are encouraged to gather in fellowship and share memories during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials take the form of contributions to the: American Brain Tumor Association, to the family for medical expenses (c/o Kathy Martin) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
